Where is My Flying Car?

Right about now, you have to be wondering what a flying car has to do with politics and current events. For me, it's simple. If you are a member of Generation X, then you remember movies like "Back to the Future" where Doc Brown, played by Christopher Lloyd, says at the end of the movie, "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads." They went to the year 2015 for the sequel.

Well, it's 2010, and we have no flying cars. Not even on the horizon. There wasn't any mention of a viable flying car concept at the last auto show. Nothing. There isn't even a hovering skateboard on the market. There was one, a weak copy of the one in the movies, but I don't see it anywhere, anymore.

Well, what do we have? We are making headway towards electric cars that you plug in at your house. That would work for me if I didn't need more than 200 yards of extension cord to stretch from my apartment to my car. I remember the Sun Raycer, an old solar powered car that had a top speed of about 25 miles per hour and looked like a UFO. It didn't fly though.

Thanks to tremendous amounts of Government interference and anti-capitalist union leadership, the formerly largest automaker in the world, General Motors, is now owned by the US Government; and Chrysler, an American icon, is now owned by the Italian-based Fiat. How's that "Change" working for you? If left to there own devices, both companies would be hugely profitable. Too bad we can't have that.

The US Government destroyed those two companies. The United Auto Workers Union helped, but they really aren't the main problem. Ford Motor Company managed to save themselves and become hugely profitable once more, thanks to the terms of the twenty billion dollar loan they took out against the Ford brand name. Had GM and Chrysler been forced to file for bankruptcy or take other measures to once again become solvent, they would actually have a chance to compete.

I drive a GMC Canyon, and it will be my last new GM Car. I will probably buy a classic muscle car that was built by GM later on down the line, but I would rather drive a De Lorean DMC-12. At least they had a good idea, even though they went tits up after only two years of production. If I do buy a new car, it will definitely be a Ford.

My problem is the fact that the EPA and Congress decided that cars have to be "safe" and "clean". So much so that the cost of production is so high that we cannot even begin to compete against even BMW and Volkswagen! Their laborers are paid the equivalent of almost 100 dollars an hour! Yet they are doing just fine in the US. Why is that?

CAFE standards, the Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards, is the first problem. The second, are the requisite safety equipment that most automobiles must have installed, including those grotesque decals on the back of every visor that warns you about the dangers airbags pose to infants riding in the front seat. I mean, with all the required crap that is in an American car, I just don't see how we survived car travel over the last 115 years!

Why are we wasting the money on this junk? I can't stand the idea of mandatory airbags, seat belts, fuel economy, crumple zones--all of it! Don't get me wrong, I wear my seat belt even in states that haven't historically required it. I like to be safe. If I had a motorcycle, I would wear a helmet when I rode it, even if not required to. That's just prudence.

However, I am not a child. I don't need another parent to tell me that I need to be safe. I have both of my parents, and it was their responsibility to teach me the right thing to do. I most certainly don't need the government to tell me what to do! Get out of my house! Get out of my car! Get out of my bedroom, and get out of my life!

The government is the reason behind everything that has come to a standstill in our economy. They are the reason we have no flying cars, and are getting ready to have no health care. They are the reason that freedom is coming to an end! Taxes and "fees" are the reason that we are going broke! The government is the reason that unemployment is growing again.

It is not supposed to be this way! The US Constitution is the law that is supposed to protect us from the Government! After the British defeat in 1812, WE became the preeminent model of what a nation should be. We became the example that was so profound, that the French spent millions of dollars building the Statue of Liberty for us!

This government has gone insane! America was never supposed to be this way, NEVER! We are not supposed to be engaged in "nation building". First off, it costs too much damn money. Second, what have we gotten for our interference? Iran Contra brought us the Ayatollah Khomenei and Mahmoud Ahmadenijad. Futzing around with Iraq brought us Saddam Hussein. Interfering with Afghanistan brought us the Taliban and later, Al Qaeda. Do you see the pattern? Every time we get involved with attempting to build a nation from people who do not share our values, we get attacked for our endeavors.

There is only one form of nation building that we should be engaged in: Conquest. That is it! Force the conquered to obey our laws. Force them to live up to our values, not theirs.

We need to get the government out of every industry in America. Get them out of banking, and get banking out of government. Get them out of the auto industry before we get stuck with the same POS's that the Soviet Union made for its people. Get them out of the airline industry before we get stuck at the airport waiting to fly for days to catch our flight. Get them out of Real Estate before we are all living in the barrios. Force the government to live up to the Bill of Rights, especially the Tenth Amendment, before they destroy our country!

All other alternatives, particularly the ones being used by the "Boy who would be King" are fundamentally screwed in the head. Get the government back into the tiny little barn that they were put in upon the ratification of the Constitution and keep it there! That is Freedom!

If we get freedom back, then we will get our flying cars! And everything else we could possibly want.

Help get the word out! Freedom of Speech is under attack!
