Once Again, the Military becomes a Target of the Left

The Hill reports: Pelosi Would Back Spending Freeze if it also Applies to Defense

...The Speaker drew a sharp line between support for the troops, and support for military contractors. She said men and women in uniform should not be subject to a freeze, but that “I don’t think that we have to protect military contractors.”
Apparently the Speaker thinks that the Military can now be fine without increased support from contractors. While I agree with her statements, and I think that civilian contracts are degenerative to the overall effectiveness of the military, I have seen this game before.

Allow me to digress for a moment by mentioning the fact that George W. Bush opened Pandora's Box. He was the one who put contractors in every area of the military under the guise of making it more efficient, when in reality, it was a political ploy to keep from having to substantially increase the size of the military in order to support the war. The idea being, if we reduce the number of non-combat personnel in the military and keep the personnel levels the same, then we can replace non-combat personnel with the same number of combat personnel. Since civilian contractors are not counted as military personnel, no one will care about the fact that in reality, we increased the size of the Department of Defense by almost five-fold. Of course, we will have to offer some incentive for civilians to perform these duties, so we will pay them almost twice as much and grant them "protected status" in labor unions.

Now, don't get me wrong, civilians have always contributed their support to the Department of Defense. They have and continue to play a pivotal role in our nation's history, but they cost way too much for what they contribute in most cases.

Enter Nancy Pelosi. She, like most progressives, wants to hang the military out to dry. They always do. So, I am not buying in to the idea that she wants to "trim" the Pentagon's budget down in order to save the American Taxpayer a few bucks. I am still convinced that she wants to hamstring us.

I recommend that you stay frosty and skeptical of any fiscal responsibility from the Left.
